Industrial Development - Redruth

CSA Architects have been involved with this project since 1998, with a view to creating a new industrial / business park close to the A30 near Redruth. After numerous negotiations with the Planning Department, working through complexities such as the historic engine house and mine workings on the site, permission was finally given.

Separated into East and West by the Penzance to Paddington railway line, the halves of the site retain separate vehicular access. Pedestrian connection is ensured across the whole area, with a tunnel below the railway, to accommodate dog-walkers and visitors to the former mine. In total, the site extends to approximately 36 acres, and planning permission has been granted for in excess of 500,000sqft of industrial/commercial floor space.

In 2012, European Grant funding was secured to undertake the site clearance works and to install the new estate roads and infrastructure, to service the new business park. This work was completed by summer 2014.

A number of plots are being developed or have recently been completed. These include a site for Vauxhall Dales, Jaguar Landrover, Baker Tom’s and a suite of serviced offices and industrial units for the Bauer Group, which are being delivered with architectural services from CSA Architects. Planning permission has also been granted for Cornwall’s first Bio Park, on the eastern portion of the site, which has the ability to accommodate specialist waste/recycling, and waste to energy plant.

The remaining serviced sites are being marketed, with significant names involved in the development. This promises to be a significant employment hub in West Cornwall.
