The replacement of the former youth club, Dracaena Avenue, Falmouth, was a challenging project. Handover of the completed scheme was on 3rd October 2008. Funded by the local authority, objective one funding, Lottery & Sport England, all as major stakeholders in the scheme, as well as the client Falmouth Youth Club in association with Carrick District Council. The development brief changed regularly throughout the design process, due to the input from multiple stakeholders, including, of course, the general public; who will use the scheme. The final brief was adapted again, late in the process, to include offices for the Probation Services at first floor; being self-contained. The main brief consisted of changing facilities, a community hall, café & kitchen, linked to an existing sports hall.
The project was successfully completed on time and on budget, despite many variations and an extended development brief, late in the day. The strict timescale and budgetary requirements were a pre-requisite of the grant funding from the various sources, as stated above. Csa acted as lead consultant to manage and co-ordinate all necessary sub-consultants throughout the process, as well as undertaking full architectural services. This project clearly demonstrates the company's capability to manage a project with a substantial and complicated public sector involvement, due to the extent of stakeholders involved and stringent funding conditions.
