The existing Britannia Lanes at Threemilestone previously stood as a pragmatic designed storage container. The site is located alongside the bust A390 road servicing the city of Truro, thus a key ethos to the design of the new extension deliberately harnessed the opportunity of free advertising.

The design of the new warehouse extension was based around a simple extrusion of the existing warehouse to form a seamless building that provides optimum storage area based around the standardised sized container units.

The new office section was specifically designed to be a distinctive element against the large backdrop formed by the expanse of the new and existing warehouse behind. This was achieved by a contrast in use of material and colour, using sand stone coloured lignicite blockwork against white profiled sheet cladding. The prominent office section also provided  an opportunity to reinforce the distinctive  Britannia Lanes corporate colours, via coloured coloured glazing to the two storey entrance porch.
