Winner of the much coveted title "International Sustainable Building of the Year 2004" RICS Awards 2004

Christopher Smith Associates are proud to be associated with this unique project. When an Ofsted inspection highlighted issues of space at the Lanlivery School the governors and teachers opted for a building that combined speed, strength, durability and sustainability.
The Design provides a flexible open space, which can be adapted to need on a daily basis. The structure consists almost entirely of sustainable materials such as locally grown Douglas fir. The majority of materials, which have gone into the construction of the building, can be disassembled and reused or recycled at the end of the buildings life.
In addition, the project has been used as a teaching tool throughout the construction and the children have become much more aware of sustainability issues as a result. CSA undertook the Building Regulations, Tender, Contact Administration and Site Supervision.

Quote from Judge, Jim Ure
"An outstanding project that follows the very best of sustainable principles. The work was carried out with common sense and a true concern for both the environment and best value."
