CSA architects have an accredited BREEAM Indutrial Assessor in-house which enables pragmtaic design from inception to achieve the required standards. CSA were appointed in Summer 2007 to provide full architectural services as lead consultant, for a new factory unit with associated offices (circa 2,600m2) on land adjoining the existing Watson Marlow factory on Bickland Water Road in Falmouth. A fast-track programme; csa quickly obtained planning consent and introduced grant funding expertise, to achieve grant using the new Convergence Funding Programme. This project has been the first construction scheme in the county to successfully gain convergence funding.
The client has been delighted with the progress, as the project has adhered to programme and budget throughout, in addition, they have been extremely thankful to csa for the grant achieved and project management. The commencement of the construction was marked by a royal visit from Prince Andrew.
A pre-requisite of the grant funding was to achieve an "Excellent" BREEAM Rating. The scheme has achieved this standard, throughout the design and onstruction and is the first industrial unit in the county, designed to these standards, which further demonstrates csa architects sustainable capabilities and technical knowledge. CSA acted as lead consultant to manage and co-ordinate all necessary sub-consultants throughout the process. The time-critical programme dovetails with the arrival of expensive equipment for the fit-out and operation of the new facility, including partial handover. This fast-track scheme was handed over to the client in May 2009.
