CSA architects were appointed due to their expert capability to manage and coordinate a full environmental impact assessment, in conjunction with full architectural, urban design and landscape architecture, to provide a holistic service, on behalf of the client for this major detailed planning application consisting of; 107 residential units (houses & apartments) a community hall, retail unit and public open space. The ability to coordinate consultants to produce a full Environmental Impact Assessment, emphatically demonstrates the company's ability to ensure integrated team working, throughout the preparation of a major planning application. As such, the practice uses Microsoft Project to prepare a realistic project programme, with key, milestone dates throughout. This is issued to all team members for comment, prior to being formalised and issued to all stakeholders. The progress can then be monitored; combined with a comprehensive communication protocol, using e-mail, to ensure that all team members are aware of all aspect of the scheme evolution throughout. This is a fundamental consideration, working on major projects, as remediation of one item can impact on another; therefore an open dialogue is critical.
Csa were commissioned in January 2008 and worked with the local planning authority to establish the scope of works required, within the EIA. Subsequently, to demonstrate "best value" to the client, csa actively tendered each aspect of work required to appoint suitably qualified consultants. The project programme was produced and adhered to; culminating in the submission of this comprehnsive planning application, on schedule and in accordance with the cost budget.
