Christopher Smith Associates were approached by Hawkins Motors to produce a design for a Motor Village on the outskirts of Hayle, easilly accessible and visible from the main A30. Their existing showroom was located in the centre of Hayle and CSA achieved planning for the relocation of this facility. The site is located at the front of an industrial estate and therefore, a key objective of the client's brief was to create a modern development consisting of 3 indivdual buildings, for a phased construction. These buildings had to be designed to be flexible, so that they could be converted for industrial useage in the future, if necessary, so CSA produced a scheme, based on a simple, open plan steel frame arrangement that formed the skeleton of the proposals. The buildings also had to be divided into two main sections, to the front; a showroom and to the rear; workshops and servicing. CSA undertook full architectural services and phase one of the development; The Peugeot dealership, opened in April 2005.
